Grand Final Day 2003 marked the birth of Ladro – the day we opened our doors on Gertrude St Fitzroy. So this GF Day we’ve put together a special lockdown feasting box to heat-at-home.

7 dishes for $37.50pp.

Boxes must be ordered for 2, 4, 6, 8 or more.

Orders over $120 will receive a complimentary damn fine 750ml Marsuret Prosecco bottle love Ladro – no Italian birthday is complete without it! Stock up your Ladro pantry from the supermarket and bottleshop at the same time.

Our online supermarket is NOW OPEN. Budget friendly, family friendly and Covid-19 lock-down friendly with hand made fresh pasta from $3 per person. Yep, we are selling all supermarket goods at wholesale food prices.
Right now, today, we need all of your support and help to keep trading in these crazy times. Small restaurants like Ladro are working harder than ever to pivot into a takeaway only venue. Ordering food from us instead of the big supermarkets keeps the staff we have left and our families afloat.
Our DRIVE-UP system is the safest, most hygienic way to get food to you. There is no third party delivery app driver. Just our high standard of sanitary practice meeting yours.
We’re starting with some Ladro basics like:

It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed during the Covid crisis. Looking out for each other, sharing what you have and focusing on what you can do in your local community has kept us grounded at Ladro, thanks to StreetSmart their SmartMeals program.

We’ve been cooking 400 meals a week for vulnerable people impacted by the pandemic, as part of a new pilot program, SmartMeals, brainchild of Adam Robinson – CEO of StreetSmart Australia in response to the Covid crisis.

SmartMeals puts empty hospitality venues to good use with a win-win concept feeding many in need at the same time. It supports venues like Ladro who have supported NFP’s like StreetSmart, for many years.

To say the pilot has been life changing is an understatement. It’s been life saving – business saving. Ladro has been able to keep two full-time chefs employed during the crisis and literally stay afloat – it works like this:

Ladro has been paired with local Fitzroy charity St Mary’s House of Welcome. We cook hundreds of meals for people in need, delivering them daily to the charity. Ladro is paid a small fee to cover food costs and labour with 100% of the fee going towards providing meals to combat homelessness and keep staff employed. It’s simple and brilliant, like all good ideas.

Now is a great time to share what you have. We’re urging anyone who can afford it to donate directly to StreetSmart. It allows us to provide as many meals as possible to feed an ever increasing number of people in need. If you’re in a position to do so, please…

LADRO CHRISTMAS HOURS

Wowsers, what a year!
At least Ladro & Ladro TAP will be open everyday except the main public holidays, right through the holiday season. To be be frank, without all your support, we’re not certain we’d have made it to Christmas this year – so thank you. Thank you for supporting us through takeaway only, buying goods from our Ladro Supermarket & Bottleshop, and most of all for dining with us the last six weeks. We’re so glad to be back doing what we love and can’t wait til 2021 ticks over.
Have a safe, feast filled and laughter riddled holiday with all your favourite people – but if COVID restrictions are keeping you apart, just know we’ll be thinking of you.

Our workplace & the way we do business has changed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and this is what we are doing:

HEALTH & SAFETY FIRST

1.  We’re staying healthy, and only our healthy staff will be working so we can continue to keep you safe and well nourished from a trusted source.

2.  We are sanitising everything, (even the kitchen sink) with certified Covid-19 killing sanitiser; a bio-sufactant that is antiviral, kills 99.9% of germs, with 4 hour protection and it’s enviro-friendly.

3.  Sanitiser is located everywhere at Ladro for you & all staff to use.

4.  We’re offering DRIVE-UP, WALK-UP & LADRO DELIVERY on Friday, Saturday & Sunday by Ladro staff, with DELIVEROO through the week & soon Uber. Order direct with Ladro and revenue stays in Ladro’s hands instead of multinational giants.

2.  Visit our new Ladro Supermarket selling food for you to prepare at home. Available as single items or bulk orders for freezer & fridge storage so you can enjoy some comfort (food) during Covid-19. Prices start at $5, because we know how hard it is to operate on a shoestring. We’re doing it too.
Fresh pastas, sauces, toilet paper cocktails, wine & beer…new items are being added every week so we can try to keep as many of our staff employed as possible.

We NOW have designated DRIVE-UP points in Fitzroy & Prahran for all orders as an option.
Order online, fill in your number plate, DRIVE-UP in safety and we’ll run the order out to your car (after sanitising of course). NO delivery driver contamination, just our highest sanitary standards meeting yours. We think this is the safest way to get food to you!

We’ll keep you updated as our Ladro Supermarket evolves and things change which seems to be almost daily!

It will be a very different ANZAC DAY this year.
In a way we are fighting our own real-time war, on Covid-19. And more than ever we need to set some time aside and remember all those before us who battled for the liberties we have taken for granted…for so long, maybe until now.

Ladro has created an ANZAC FOOD PACK so you can break some bread, share a meal and reflect on love, life and lost souls.
We have 2 options (lamb or vegetarian) and each pack feeds 2 people x 3 courses.
Packs can be made up for 4, 6, 8, 10+, simply let us know when you place your order.
Pay it forward to someone in need, a frontline worker or maybe just needing some Ladro love and we’ll deliver it within 5 kms of Fitzroy or Prahran.
